Our History

Juneau Exploration, LP was founded in 1999 as a prospect generating shop for Ken Peak’s Contango Oil and Gas Company, which was founded with $3MM in friends and family money. Juneau was responsible for generating prospects onshore and offshore, as well as vetting projects generated by others for Contango. The company grew organically to almost $1BN in market capital by drilling Juneau’s prospects. With Ken’s passing in April 2013, this relationship was terminated and Juneau generated for its own account.
